iPhone keyboard with Watch

How do I use the iPhone keyboard to enter a complicated password on my Watch? Using the "scribble" feature is impossible for me. So far I have not run across how to link to the phone keyboard on purpose, but I have had it do that by accident that I don't seem to be able to repeat. I'm sure there is an easy way, Just can't find it.
