Lightning to HDMI no longer working with IOS16 update

Lightning av adapter to HDMI no longer working after IOS16 update. Updated to current iOS 16.0.3 using Apple certified cord, turned off and on, phone is updated and backed up. It work until ios16. Another phone works, but not updated to the iOS16. For example Netflix mirrors from phone to tv and will play the trailer, but once I hit play the screen goes black and says now playing on your tv. But is not playing anything. How can I fix this issue? Thank you.

Not helpful at all. The update to IOS 16 is not compatible with the AV digital lightning plug. We full time RV and do not have WiFi. We depend on the AV plug adapter. We even bought a new one. My wife just purchased the new 14, she had s 6 which worked great. Our iPad worked great until we updated to the 16. Now nothing works. You all need to fix this and quick passing the buck to the other streaming platforms.

There is no consideration for people who live in rural areas. No way to get fiber optic cable; satellite is way too expensive and unreliable.

I’ve read this is an intentional change to stop pirating. So everyone gets punished because of a few dishonest people! I believe that apple and the streaming companies are working together on this.

I could have access with a hot spot, but it’s yet another charge, and if you don’t want video feeds to stop and buffer every few minutes, you have to pay even more for faster speed, and that is also limited.

It’s not worth the money, and I really don’t like being forced into spending my limited funds.

What ever happened to internet access for everyone???

I’ve cancelled Netflix, HBO. There’s $30/ month back in my pocket. I won’t pretend that I haven’t enjoyed them, but we’ve been conditioned to think we need these services. There was a time when these things didn’t exist, and we were fine, maybe even better off for some of us. I’m using my time and money elsewhere.

I waited until the most recent update to try again, and nothing has changed. On days when I am too ill to get out of bed, my only options are staring at the four walls, because my rural connection means buffering renders streaming programs entirely unwatchable. I’m going to reiterate that this is entirely discriminatory against the visually impaired and disabled, because we NEED larger screens in order to be able to view these services. At this point, I can only suggest that anybody who ever bought a dongle should consider a lawsuit, but I am going to end up having to file an ADA complaint.

I have the 16.2 update, and at this point, I am assuming that Apple has no intention of fixing the problem. I find it astonishing that the company which refused to bow to pressure from the US government for security purposes would bow to the pressure of media streaming agencies for the sake of profit.

Disgusted.

I already canceled Hulu. I just sent an email to Paramount to let them know that if the problem isn’t fixed before my next payment due date, I will be canceling them, as well. Prime will follow right after that. I suggest to everybody to start canceling their services and make sure the carrier knows this is why.

I am having this issue, only since I upgraded to IOS 16.

Only 3 out of 15 streaming apps are working.

One of the streaming apps that no longer works when using the digital a/v adapter is APPLE TV+.

While streaming a show, when I plug in the adapter, the following message appears…

“There is a problem loading this content”.

This also happens playing content I have stored locally.

I’m mean .. ha, I guess that’s what’s going on. The point is they’ve just now become incompatible. ?? (With the recent update to iOS 16) these apps worked on previous iOS versions. Can you give a list of what streaming services your dongle is no longer compatible with and dispense with the obvious. Then, is it possible for you to let us know if they will become compatible in the future, or this is an outside developer issue that hasn’t fixed all the bugs on their end. Something has changed and it seems like the people who write the updates would know. Thank you

I posted earlier that I was having this issue on several streaming apps.

In response to the poster that just mentioned Apple providing a list of apps that still work…

In all likelihood they are waiting and reading these posts and others in other forums to figure out which ones people say are still working so they can disable them as well.

Also… I’ve noticed a few other things about this issue that MIGHT help the developers of apps, or Apple… solve this massive problem…

A few minutes after I installed the IOS 16 update, I noticed a message popped up on my phone’s screen that said something like “accessory connection…digital a/v adapter…this accessory may not be available until the firmware is downloaded for this accessory/device”

The other thing I’ve noticed is that in some streaming apps that offer “live tv” and on demand shows/movies… some channels don’t work..and some do…. Same with on demand stuff in the same app…some work some just flip back and forth between the phone display and the tv…some shows play with low throughput..stuttering…with no volume.

I think the issue is with the screen resolution of the source video not playing nice with the hdmi “handshake” process. I believe its related to the origin video’s resolution because i have some streaming apps that are displayed smaller than my tv screen on my tv and I use the “zoom” picture setting on my tv to fix those…and those apps that I need to zoom the screen on still work flawlessly!

Seriously though…hopefully someone with a big social media following takes up our cause and convinces Apple to fix this….one way or another.

Or someone could go to their local news station and ask them for some help getting the ball rolling. Apple clearly isn’t listening to anyone in here.

iPhone 11. Prior to today my phone with the adapter played my Netflix, hbo and showtime without issue on my tv. HOW do I fix this? I’m so angry. Had I known I would not have done the upgrade. Can I uninstall the upgrade to have my convenience back?? So angry

how do I fix this?? Cables are fine. Plugs are fine. It worked fine until upgrade.

I called Apple Support about this issue and they suggested that I reboot my iPhone which I had already tried to no avail, but they also suggested that I try connecting my HDMI to another port on my TV which I tried......... and it worked for Netflix! I haven't tried the other streaming services yet, but at least I have one working again, so you may all want to try this. Not a great solution, rather just a workaround......but if it works......!!

Well folks…. Figured this out and I’m not happy! Apple has figured out a way to make more money. My favorite streaming apps only work if you sign up using the Apple TV app. Apple charges double what the main provider charges. For example: I had Paramount + $4.99 (which was not working using a lightning adapter) and had to purchase on the Apple TV app the Paramount + “for Apple TV” for $9.99. This is just not acceptable Apple! Shame on you!!

I found the fix.

go to settings, then display and brightness, then click on arrangement in the displays section. It should pop up a box that shows the arrangement between your iPad and your external display. Then click the button or slide the little lever thing over it says mirror display.

When I am on Hulu and play a video, it shows full screen on my TV. I have not tried any other things like Netflix or Amazon video.
