Downloading messages from iCloud stuck on Mac (Monterrey 12.2.1)

Hey all,

I have been trying to sync messages from my iPhone into my Macbook and it seems impossible.

I simply can't get further than the "Downloading Messages from iCloud" message.

I have already:

Confirmed that both devices have their option of syncing Messages to iCloud activated (I've also disabled it and enabled it again on both)
Confirmed that both devices have the same Apple ID login
Rebooted Message apps and both devices

(iOS 16.0.3 and Monterrey 12.2.1)

Any tips?
