My text bubble between friend of mine who also uses iPhone suddenly turn green in addition there’s a new message underneath that was never there before that says “sent as text message”

You or they are in an area or situation where iMessage isn’t available and the message was sent was a sms instead. It happens and isn’t all that odd. Only way to stop that from happening at all is turning the option off in settings BUT that means if the conditions won’t allow the iMessage to send it will fail until iMessage is available again….so if you want the message to be sent at all times…even if it may switch to sms when necessary it’s best to leave the setting on.
