BIU feature not working on iPhone XS since iOS 16 update

Hi! Ever since I updated my iPhone XS to IOS 16 I cannot underline, make bold print, or strike through a word or sentence both in iMessage and WhatsApp. I can do so in Notes and Mail. Is it still possible to enable this feature for messaging? Thank you.
