I have an older iPad Air, 12.56 software. I would like to find an adapter lightning to usb to use with my Apple Super Drive to play dvd’s. Is one available for this older model. I have tried to research but information is not clear. Thanks for you support.

iOS/iPadOS fundamentally does not support connection of any optical media drives - including the Apple SuperDrive. As such, direct access to optical media (CD, DVD, BD) is not possible.
You’ll need to access this optical media using another computer, such as PC or Mac.

you can't connect cd players or dvd/blueray players or the likes to ipads
