Contact communications app choice + Show WhatsApp as an option

Hello,

I'm fairly new to iPhones, and I can't figure out how to go about reverting some sort of change I've made.

To start, I only use contacts synced with Google (because I use Google's products). I don't know if it's relevant.

On to the issue.

Whenever I looked up a contact, when I tapped on any of the 3 communications buttons (Video Call, Messages, Call), I'd be presented with a few choices based on the apps on the phone. See the following example, where I can choose between FaceTime and WhatsApp.

Now, after I make a choice, that choice will become "default", and the next time I tap the related communications button, the app that I've opened initially will also open.

How do I stop this from happening, so I'm always presented with a choice?

Also, for some reason, contacts doesn't automatically present the choice of using Whatsapp, I have to send a message to the person first, and then it'll show up as a choice.

Anyone know how to fix that?

Thanks for your help.

Hello FN_1090,

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Communities.

We understand you're looking to have Siri forget the search suggestion that was last saved, correct?

If we understood you correctly, let's see if disabling Siri Suggestions for contacts will clear this up for you. If you're unable to search them after disabling, enable it again to see what the results are. You can locate more information on Siri Suggestions in the following resource, if you'd like: Siri Suggestions on iPhone - Apple Support

Turn Siri Suggestions on or off for an app

Siri Suggestions are on by default for your apps. You can turn them off or change the settings at any time.
1. Go to Settings  > Siri & Search, scroll down, then select an app.

2. Turn settings on or off.

If that's not able to help, let us know what occurred when you tested those steps.

Have a great day!

You misunderstood the question.

The solution to my problem was to simply hold the button of my choosing (video, call, or messages) until a list appears where I can choose the app that I want to use for the specific social interaction.

@Apple's UI/UX team, you need to add a little chevron or triangle to indicate it's possible to make a choice. Right now it's unintuitive and quite frankly cumbersome.
