To prevent an accidental deletion of important photos, keep your Recently Deleted album relatively empty, so you can see at a glance, if you accidentally trashed an important photo or video, before you empty recently Deleted. And check recently Deleted after you deleted photos, to see, if you accidentally have selected more photos than you intended.

when you sync your device with iCloud, the function to delete anything on your device is also synchronized to iCloud…which means, if you delete something, you delete it anywhere. Only a backup prevents a loss.
