iPhone 14 Pro Max does not read QR code

I have experienced this issue several times since I changed from 11 to 14 Pro Max with several items. it is either unable to read the code, or the image is not sharp enough in the view finder for recognition. I have to then enter the serial numbers, etc. manually.

I have seen prior responses. They are of no use when the phone just can't recognize or read the QR codes. Please help.
