slide to type broken

This is a statement, not a question.

Hundreds of posts show Slide to Type broke a a few releases ago, particularly in replacing proper correct words.

Apple, please back out the smartypants AI that does this and return to a release that works.

Predictive Text Suggests Nonsense or Words I’ve Never Used Sometimes when I am typing into a text or Safari etc., predictive text will suggest words that aren’t even words. I haven’t used those words in accident before, or even been sent to me by someone else. I have not looked them up on the internet or any of the things that predictive text is supposed to be based on. Sometimes when I have entered a word, it suggests a misspelling of the word which is even worse because if I see the suggestion and I assume that I have spelled the word incorrectly I accidentally change it to the wrong spelling. Why would it even suggest a misspelling when I entered it correctly? I like using predictive text because it will correct words that I didn’t notice I entered incorrectly. But, the issue I am describing is incredibly frustrating and sometimes confusing. When will this issue be fixed? Please don’t reply to tell me that I need to reset my dictionaries or languages, or that it’s based on my use. I have already been through those suggested solutions and they don’t work. Also, please do not reply with instructions to turn off predictive text. That is not a solution to predictive text not behaving usefully or correctly. If anyone else knows a solution please post it. Thank you.

Unreliable UX: When will Apple fix Slide-to-type so it stops changing previous words even with autocorrect and predictive text turned off? If there's anyone at Apple with any clout reading this, please, for the love of all things, fix slide-to-type to not change prior-typed words so that I don't have to go back to Android. Without that iOS bug, I can swipe-type 60 words per minute. With iOS's buggy behavior, it's more like 20 words per minute. An example: I just swipe-typed a response to a legal issue that included "those harmed will be able to", and then noticed, when proofreading before sending, that it got changed to "those harpooned will be able to". My finger never went anywhere near the 'p' or 'o' when I swipe-typed "harmed", so there's zero cause for the system to change that word to "harpooned". Either your AI/ML-model training has been spectacularly flawed, or you have some heuristics that need a code review by more-caring programmers. Please fix this or give us a way to disable the feature! I have to resort to using Windows 11 with a keyboard to type anything of import. Thanks in advance!

Why is autocorrect offering replacement of clearly misspelled words?? I am regularly fighting an automatic highlighting of a correctly spelled word, to what I assume was perhaps an original fat fingered spelling. e.g. Working in apple mail app I am proofing an email phrase is “if needed” I was trying to change “if” to “as” and if I touch to put my cursor after if (to delete “if”) it instead instantly auto highlights “needed” and offers a change to “meedwd” Why on earth would autocorrect regularly be offering a suggested change to clearly misspelled words? And why is that highlighting activated when my cursor isn’t even touching that word? I do not want to entirely lose autocorrect but ever since update a few weeks (months?) ago this new phenomenon has been driving me nuts. On iOS 17.1.1

Smartypants is the only appropriate word when iOS autocorrects the PREVIOUS correctly typed word to garbage. This is these new autoCORRUPT feature
