Phase issues with MacBook Air M1 2020

Playback seems like it has phase issues coming out of built in speakers. Turned off all sound check options, etc.

Audio/Midi setup configure speakers set to stereo

  • When clicking test button on left speaker - there is a phase issue and clearly some sound coming out of the right speaker
  • When clicking test button on right speaker - everything sounds correct and no audible sound coming out of the left speaker.

When playing a loop out of Logic and pan to one side or the other I hear sound out of the left side even when panned hard right.

Is Apple trying to create some "crosstalk" to make the speakers sound wider?

Also, the freqency response is different for the loop when panning from one side to the other.

No issues when playing through headphones.
