I recently bought a MacBook M1 Air 2020 from a third party reseller. They did not specify the color, although I am sure it is either a Silver or Space Gray. Using Apple's Service and Support Coverage checker does not yield any color, and PowerbookMedic's SN checker does not specify the actual colors.

Silver and Space Gray are very different colours, Space Gray being darker and not 'bright'. Glad you worked it out.
