What versions of iMovie and Operating System are you using?

Are you getting any error message? If so, what is the exact text?

Are you possibly running short on disk space? Click on Apple Logo/About this Mac/Storage and make sure that you have at least 20GB of free space on your internal drive.

Try restarting your computer and then delete/reset your preferences. To delete/reset preferences open iMovie while holding down the Option and Command keys and select to delete preferences in the box that appears. iMovie will open in a new library. Reopen your old library to get back to your projects. Now see if you can share out without freezing. Possibly you may need to reboot to set the changes.  Deleting preferences is a safe procedure that will not cause data loss or disruption to your project.
