QuickTime Player X many View Menu options are greyed out

I have been using QT7 for a more than a decade, and it was a big blow when I realized it doesn't work on OS Monterey. QT X lacks many options and useful functions, but the most perplexing is that some of the options are just greyed out for no reason! Basically half of the options in the View Menu are not working. Here is a screenshot of what it looks like. Any fix for that?

it feels we are rolling back to prehistoric times. how come QT7 and any other film editing software can read frame count without a problem and QT X suddenly needs a mysterious “embedded timecode” which none of the videos have by default because… - well, because there are FRAMES in any video anyway! And by the way - QT X does recognize frames, because I can press the arrow keys right or left and it will go one frame at a time, which means it can perfectly count frames… this is simply ridiculous! I’m quite perplexed and I don’t understand the logic of QT player developers - making everything worse again seems like the only strategy now…
