Why was I forced to get a new Apple ID?

I have an ID I've been using for a decade or more. Today, apple.com decided that I didn't have the right credentials, so I went through the change password rigmarole. Using the new password, my credentials were still not accepted. So, a new ID. Why is that? Can you (Apple) please fix your login logic? Thanks.

This is a user to use forum. You are not addressing Apple directly here. We users, cannot fix anything here, and there are no issues with Apple ID loggings at this time: link-> Apple - Support - System Status

Nobody forced you to create a new Apple ID, you did that on your own.

If your old Apple ID is not working it should have told you why. Do you share your Apple ID with any one? Might they have tried to change the password for it?

Is your Apple ID, perhaps disabled? If so, then see here: link-> If your Apple ID is locked or disabled - Apple Support

The Apple ID was signed in Mac system preferences , but due to insufficient / incorrect credentials it was not updated on iCloud server that can be verified using this link https://iforgot.apple.com/appleid#!&section=appleid not only Apple ID address and password are required to establish an account , the rest of credentials for secondary authentication account like three answers for respective questions , date of birth , rescue mail address and its password are essential a green check mark will always appear if all credentials are correct and says account verified , also if password was weak and not updated it prompted to create a new strong password Tips for creating secure passwords on Mac - Apple Support , your Apple ID might be say example1@gmail.com it was updated on gmail server not necessarily on iCloud server , that's the reason the Apple ID password was not accepted , or if other devices like iPhone / iPad / other Mac was synced with primary Mac and you changed the password from them it has to be updated from primary Mac What to do after you change your Apple ID or password - Apple Support

There is no direct and clearly findable way to file a bug ticket with Apple, so I gamble on the occasional Apple employee to happen by. My ID is *NOT* locked and I *SUCCESSFULLY* updated my password. Using that password and associated Apple ID, I got the "invalid credentials" message (however it is that they phrase that). SO: there is something screwy in their database about my primary ID (and not with this duplicate ID). So, yeah, I created a new one because I had a question (now resolved).
