upgrading from Catalina to Big Sur OS

Turbo Tax says Apple will only support BigSur OS on Mac's for 2022 tax support. So how does one upgrade to BigSur from Catalina and does this impact any other programs currently being used on my Mac. Other suggestions welcome and comment on whether this upgrade is necessary?? Thx

Back up your data, check your applications for compatibility, click here, and depending on which MacBook Pro model you have, then on the download link for Big Sur or Monterey. It needs to be at least a late 2013 one to run a higher OS.

Alternatively, use the online version of TurboTax.
