iOS 16.1 Lock Screen Wallpaper Display

This says it is the “Best Answer” no disrespect but this answer puts all ownership for the problem on the consumer not they faulty update that caused the problem!

Apple fix the issue!!! That is the best answer!

This just happened to me this morning for the first time my photo was there I used my phone, put it down when I came back black Lock Screen. What the devil is that? I shut phone down and turn back on and it’s back. This is a 13 pro max I’m having this issue with! Frustrating 😩

My issue is different but similar when I turn my phone off and turn it back on when the Lock Screen first comes up it’s black then a few seconds later it turns to my wallpaper and I’m wondering if anyone else has this issue.

I used to have one photo on Lock Screen and another as wallpaper. Now the Lock Screen photo is almost completely black, and the wallpaper photo is enlarged 2x.

I can’t figure out the benefits of the last two releases as I’ve lost the ability to customize my screens and battery live has gone from three days to no more than 16 hours. So frustrating.

I liked it where I could put a print on front screen and then the Lock Screen. It now blurs out all the time!! I hate all these new changes!! That Focus crap is the worse. I going to an android phone!! Screw this crap!!

Black screen wallpaper has returned, I thought it had been resolved with my update to 16.2 but now 2 weeks on it has come back with no reason. I haven’t changed any settings or anything.

I have an iPhone Pro 13. Black screen and wallpaper. Shut the phone down and came back on with original screens. Only to go back to 1/2 screen black and my original wallpaper. I am getting very tired of fixing this! New phone with some other company maybe in the future!

Why is this still an issue months after its release? I just make the mistake of upgrading to 16.2 and same black lock screen issue with no real solution/work around that actually works! Not even Apple created images work. Just black lock screen no matter what! So annoying

where is the Apple support reply to this issue? this is months old and nothing from Apple ?? I tried reselecting the same photo for wallpaper we have always used and that does not work. if this is a known issue then Apple should reply to this chain and update the users.

I bought 3 iPhone 14 Pro’s in October. The wallpaper on the Lock Screen on one keeps turning black. When I restart the phone, it comes back for a little while, then the goes back to black, only displaying the time and camera and flashlight icons. What’s the warranty on a New iPhone? Can I take it back? Is it defective? Or is it a bug? But if it’s a bug and I have 2 other iPhone 14 Pro’s running the same software, then why aren’t these doing the same thing? Should I expect them to start doing the same thing? How can I get this fixed..? It’s highly annoying and frustrating.

So has anyone for real solved this? I’ve tried focus on and off, I’ve tried switching from dark to light mode, I’ve forced restart, I’ve tried setting up new wallpaper and returning to wallpaper that worked just fine before setting up this new one. Not one thing works. Lock Screen is just black in every single case. AND the whole “hold the Lock Screen and sweep” to swap wallpapers does not work at all. Holding the Lock Screen does nothing at all. And yes, I’m only using one finger. Very frustrated!

Thought the problem was resolved… but… just updated to 16.3.1 and it’s back again.

Easy to reboot to get the home screen back but it’s only temporary before it goes black again.

come on Apple, your a multi multi million $$ company, and we buy your expensive products… fix the problem!!

This happens to me with my iPhone 13 as well. It's been happening since a couple of updates ago (I just downloaded iOS 16.4 for context). This makes me sad-- the black screen is lifeless and I don't like that my attempts to continually fix it don't last. Apple, in your next update, PLEASE fix this.

Good freaking grief! This problem has going on for at least 5 months, and they didn't even fix it in the latest update? But we got more emoji! 🙄

What a load, apple!

Both my iphone and ipad currently have this exact same problem. And now it's April 2023. I'd really like to have wallpaper that STICKS. That's the definition of the term. Especially with this constant brag ⬇️ that it can be changed from said lock screen. There are more than enough dumb emoji. Fix it so I can actually see what I personally choose to display on my screens.

Now I know not to waste time with support, since there's clearly no fix.

After spending many thousands of dollars over the years on your products and services, the least you can do is have ios operate as advertised. Windows never works the it should.

Stuff like this is too dumb and too frustrating for a nearly trillion-dollar valued corp.

to go back where it turns off completely you have to go to Setting> Display and Brightness> and turn off where it says “always on” then it should be back to normal and turn off it worked for me !
