iOS update on apple air does not work
My mac air will not update from ver 11.7. Nothing happens whenI press update.

If I understand your question, Software Update is offering to update macOS from version 11.7 to 11.7.1, and an Update Now button appears but clicking it does nothing. If something about that description is not correct please describe what you see.
