why does my Macbook pro keeps trying to log out by itself? it is not set up to do so.

Well it is your choice. If you alter your Energy Saver settings/Battery settings, you can of course manually set off energy saver when you leave your desk. If you feel the machine is secure enough for a certain brief enough excursion, just make sure Energy Saver is not made to go off automatically under the Energy Saver or Battery settings at that time.
Is the first item below unchecked in your Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Security & Privacy?
No, I dont uncheck it because if I do anybody would access my computer as they would require no password. Besides, it doesnt start logging out, it only puts my computer to sleep.
