Has anyone got a sony DCR TVR 350 video camera to work sending DV out to a mac Book pro running Final Cut Pro?

I haven't done this yet, waiting on a DV to Firewire cable for the type of connector on older Mac Book Pro.
I understand that I may need a driver from SONY for a Mac. I checked with SONY, the only driver available is for iMovie.
So even if I get the cable and do all the set-up correctly, I do not expect it to work.
Unless someone has a direct solution, I will probably have to import my DVR camera video to a PC running Win XP using
Windows Movie Maker [ which produces .wmv the files]. Then I will FlashDrive that video to the Mac and run
"Free MP4 Converter" app to produce an .MP4 video file that Final Cut Pro recognizes.
I am open to a more direct solution. Thanks JG
Thanks everyone for your support.
YES, getting the correct cable with the CORRECT CONNECTOR [DV 4 pin to Firewire 9 pin]
solved the problem.
I just xfered a Digital tape from 2009 from the DVR camera
directly into Final Cut Pro on my MacBookPro w/o a
problem. No SONY driver is needed like you said.
Again thanks to all. JG
If this a DV camera you don’t need any driver.
Yes, it should work fine.
Can you "step by step" tell us how you setup the devices?
Al
No special software is required from Sony.
D-8 Sony cameras will just work.
The cable may require an adapter/s to your Mac.
What model Mac will be used to capture the tape?
Al
Thanks.
DV to Firewire cable s/b here Monday.
I'll try a direct xfer from the camera to FinalCutPro.
Expecting a DV to Firewire cable Monday for my 13' Mid 2012 MaBookPro running OS 10.15.7.
That Mac has a Firewire 800 socket.
A 4 to 9 pin bi-directional cable will work without the need for adapters.
Should be plug and play, not plug and pray. 🤠👍

Nice to hear it "just worked". 👍
