I just discovered this today while trying to just use touchscreen on my HP ENVY 5660 to scan to pdf (like I was able to do no problem before updating to MacOS Ventura): Open HP Easy Scan (even though you won't be using it, just the touchscreen on the printer), click on Preferences (HP Easy Scan drop-down), then click on Scan to Computer, then click on Scan to PDF, then click on Edit, then where it says Output Type make it PDF-Searchable, then click Save. After that I was able to just use the touchscreen and scan to pdf and no longer get just blank pages. That's one workaround anyway.

I had this issue too for my Brother MFC-8370DN printer/scanner. Resolved issue for me by deleting the printer and reinstalling it using Auto Select for the drivers. Printer and scanner now both work. Hope this works for you.
Worked like a charm. Removed the printer, and added it back. Now the scanner function works. Thank you!

There must be a scanner/printer involved here somewhere... what is that device?
printers /scanners are typically always the first causality in any OS upgrade

Brother stopped driver development for this device at macOS Catalina in 2019. It would be a stretch, but those Catalina intended drivers might (weak might) work on Ventura. I don't see this device listed among Brother's AIrPrint compatible devices.
Naturally, Brother continues Windows 10/11 driver development for this device.
Brother printer MFC-7860 DW
On brother drivers website, no macOS Ventura appears.
Right from the horse's mouth… 😉 Try their iPrint & Scan software from the Mac App Store.
You can check this page to see if any HP upgrades/updates are available:
Another thing that worked for me is using HP Smart.
Update* I have to go through the process of removing the printer and reinstalling each session for scanning. I hope this is fixed soon.
Unfortunately HP latest supported OS in MacOS 12 ...and the problem appeared with 13.0.
The most recent driver for my Printer is 2.13.0.220124 Jan 27, 2022.
Thanks anyway
Hi,
I have the same problem with HP Color LaserJet and their HP Easy Scan software. The document is scanned but saved as a blank page. HP has made no change to their software (no version yet for Venture 13.x)
Any suggestion ?
Hello, on HP ColorJet Laser Pro M281fdw, I was not able to find such an option. Instead of using the HP Easy scan software, I use the default MacOs scan function from the Printers settings menu.
With the HP Easy scan software now I have com.apple.imagecapture error 4294967249 and not able to scan any longer...
Thanks
Didn't help for me. ...
Thanks.
Ne update in Brother's website yet.
