I am trying to reset the password on an old MacBook Air using my appleID but when I input my appleID password I’m getting the message ‘ there was an error connecting to the ‘. I haven’t used this device since moving to my current home so it has never been connected to the WiFi here. Is this why I can’t process down this route and is there an alternative method I can use to reset the device password?

First of all, you'd better resetting AppleID password.
If you forget your Apple ID or password - Apple Support
Then resetting your MacBook Air login password.

Thank you guys. Just before I reset my appleID - You don’t think the reason I can’t login using my appleID on this device is because it’s never been connected to my current WiFi? I’m not techie as you can tell 😂
