I have restored my iphone x but my messages are missing

Assuming that you restored a backup, and that everything else appears on your phone as expected when you restore a backup, I will also assume that you were using messages with iCloud. You may need to turn the switch on in the settings in order to have the messages download to your phone.

Set up iCloud for Messages on all your devices - Apple Support

If you were not using messages with iCloud, this will not recover your text messages.
