NBA League Pass not playing from phone to TV

I am unable to stream NBA League Pass onto my Samsung TV with AirPlay or using an HDMI cable (with adapter). I can mirror my iPhone and iPad using both methods and can even see the League Pass home page but once I select a game to watch the screen goes black. Is anyone else experiencing this? Is there a workaround?

Restart your devices to see if the issue persists: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support
Confirm that you are using the most recent software: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support
Turn on location services to ensure that you are able to use feature.
Confirm with NBA League Pass app developer if AirPlay is a feature that is available to use with NBA League Pass.
