I can't search in Synology DSM storage?
after update to macOS 13 Ventura
Finally, that was fixed.
Thanks to KK nylon on synology forums.
Just an update on this. This issue has been fixed on DSM 7.1 with the latest SMB package update. If you don't want to wait for the automatic update notification on DSM 7.1 you may go to the Synology Download center on their website. Select your NAS model. Then go to 'Packages' subsection, scroll down to 'SMB Service' and hit download. The version # is 4.10.18-0548.
I have had installed DSM 7.1.1-42962 Update 3, but search didn't work. Installed manually SMB Service package version 4.10.18-0548 on my DS 920+ and finally it worked.

I was able to get search from finder in Ventura to work, sort of. I contacted Synology support and one of their options to try is deleting the folder index from Universal Search > Preferences > Indexed Folder List. There are two types of indexes. One is User Defined and the other is Drive Team Folder. You can delete the User Defined but you have to remove the Drive Team folder from the Synology Drive Admin Console to remove the index for those. The problem is that removing all indexes does indeed work. But you have to remove the Synology Drive share to do this and thus cannot use the Synology Drive Sync app to access files remotely.
So, it is a catch 22. I can get search from finder to work on the local network, but only by turning off Synology Drive which removes remote access for my remote users.
So I head back from Synology support. It is a known issue that the developers are working on. The only options as of now are removing indexes (to do this you can't use Synology Drive Sync), or using the search function in Synology's DSM.
I started using a 3rd party search app, EasyFind. It is much slower but at least I can search locally while not losing Synology Drive Sync with the folks that need it for remote work.
I just installed DSM 7.1.1-42962 Update 4 and Finder works fine again.
I am in the same boat, can't search Synology volumes after upgrading to Ventura.
I have a Mac Mini with a RAID drive attached that I connect to. I can search that fine. But, I cannot search my Synology NAS mounted volumes. Any info or fix would be appreciated. I have tried connecting to the Synology volumes with afp: and it crashes Finder. Connecting via smb: works as before except for the search function.
Same here but when I try to search the AFP share using the Finder window search box the whole system freezes and I can barely manage to get it to reboot without killing every process. Seems a really bad bug.
Hi PencilPartition.
I'll try this out, but removing the indexing from the server causes the Mac to be VERY slow searching anything (we've got millions of files in the Syno), it doesn't seems to be a great solution. I hope that Apple (that indeed changed something) will come with a real problem solution, knowing that I'll be disappointed one more time, as every single Mac OS update brings nothing more than new problems of any kind.
Same here. All the other Macs running Monterey got no problems... hope this will be fixed very soon.
