iMessages on iMac

Messages doesn't work on my Mac. Note the %CPU . When there is not a 'not responding' message, %CPU is still 80-90 %. The Mac has Monterey 12.6

Messages not working right since updating to Sequoia 15.4 on MacOS Ever since installing the Sequoia 15.4 update on my M3 Pro MacBook Pro, messages/iMessages has not been working right. It either freezes/crashes, takes FOREVER to sync with messages sent on other iDevices or just plain doesn't send messages at all (giving the hated "not delivered" error). What the heck, Apple?! Rebooting occasionally fixes it but I shouldn't have to reboot my computer every time I want to use the messages app in the hope that it MIGHT work this time! I've even done the "report error" option when it crashes at least a dozen times. What is the fix for this and if no fix currently, WHEN will this be fixed?!

Force Quit Messages.

Startup in Safe Mode and test Messages.

see > Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support

Then restart normally and re-test Messages.

It was the universal controller. I never changed any settings to precipitate the problem so......
