what generation of apple tv am I buying

The older Apple TV devices have recently been removed from the Apple Store. The current models in the Store (available from 11/04) are one after Apple TV 4K (2rd generation), so i suppose 4K (3rd generation), or unofficially 7th generation in total, when including the non-4K models. As the two current Store models have some very different device characteristics, maybe Apple will come up with a different naming scheme for identification? We’ll know shortly in the coming weeks, when they update the identification support page.
