After updating your iPad, performing a forced-restart will often clear latent post-update performance issues:

  • On an iPad with a Home button: Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
  • On other iPad models: Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the top button. When the Apple logo appears, release the button.

Thanks for the info!

I was looking for less drastic actions, however, as all the logins and passwords (marked by dots and not an “option” to “show”) would be gone.

I’ve narrowed it down to “settings>Privacy & Security>Location Services>System Services”, and turned off what I don’t even have/use. So far, no spinning timer? when using Internet, and speed is back. Remember, this is iOS 16.1.1.

Also did a “hard” reset, (Home button held down+power key held down) as new settings.

Hope this helps someone!

If you own a low internal storage 16 or 32 GBs device, there is not much to be done.

Sorry.

A 16 GBs storage iPad starts out, after initial drive formatting, at approx. 14.5 GBs of free, internal storage.

After the installation of iPadOS, at approx. 6.5 GBs, leaves 8.0 GBs of of free, internal data storage space.

iOS/iPadOS needs a minimum of 3-6 GBs of constant remaining storage, that MUST BE MAINTAINED AT ALL TIMES, to insure/ensure nominal, acceptable operation of all iOS/iPadOS functionalities.

This leaves a 16 GBs iPad with ONLY a practical, usable storage space of between 2 and 5 GBs AND THAT IS IT!

This is virtually NO internal data storage to do much of anything with that iPad!

This is why Apple quietly, silently did away with all 16 GBs iOS device back sometime in 2016.

A 32 GBs storage iPad starts out with approx 30 GBs.,after initial internal flash drive formatting.

Minus approx. 6.5 GBs for iOS/iPadOS leaves between 23-24 GBs.

Minus 3-6GBs, for iOS/iPadOS system operational reserve, that MUST BE MAINTAINED AT ALL TIMES, to ensure/insure normal, expected operation of iOS/iPad OS, leaves approx. between 18-20 GBs of actual, usable data storage space.

Even with 20 GBs of actual, usable internal data storage space in an Apple iOS/iPadOS device,

a 32 GBs data storage devices are, now, more quickly, becoming the “new” low storage 16 GBs internal data storage space devices, today, a 32 GBs Apple iOS/iPadOS device has 3-4 times the internal data storage space of older base model, low internal data storage,16 GBs. internal data storage Apple iOS/iPadOS devices.

In reality and in use, in 2022, a 32 GBs internal data storage device is kind of a joke and of limited usefulness, when up to 2TB of internal data storage ( approx. 1.8 TBs or usable internal data storage ) portable tablet devices exist today.

Apple put an end to 32 GBs devices, in September 2021, with the base model iPad now offering 64 GBs of internal data storage ( approx. 50 GBs of actual, usable internal data storage ), which, for a few more years, anyways, has enough storage to make an iPad useful for longer period of time before data storage fills up.

Purchasing a low storage Apple device, to save on the cost of the device, is a false economy.

If you have a large storage iPad with still plenty of internal data storage space, this iPad should NOT be slow, ever.

If your slowness returns, it may mean your iPad may have some corrupt software amd/or corrupt internal iOS/iPadOS firmware issues that only a full erase and reset of the device will cure.

I have a 2015/2016, 256 GBs internal storage, iPad Pro with only 32 GBs of internal free data storage space left, and my iPad Pro is runing just fine.

Your iPad model is 2-3 years newer than mine with much more internal data storage space left.

Good Luck to You!

Well,

Each version of iPadOS keeps getting larger and large in file size ( it's close to, if not over 6 GBs, now, depending on the device.

You need to leave/maintain anywhere bewteen 3-6 GB of constant free, internal data storage space.

So, your iPad maybe only working with an actually free storage space amount of 6-9 GBs.

Not that much free space.for the OS to work with.

Slow iPad on iOS 9, 10 or 11! - Apple Community

Where applicable, I have made some edits to my user tip, to account for some, but NOT all, iPadOS features and locations.

Some names and loations of feature may not be, exactly, the same, but feature name maybe similar and maybe in a differnt location

Until I can, actually rewrite this tip, to eliminate all older device support and only for more ecent iPadOS features and device compatibility, my tip, the way it is, currently, written and edited, will have to suffice.
