Glitchy iOS 16.x

I have a brand-new 14 Max Pro. I have found iOS 16.1 (also applies to all 16.x) to be glitchy. The keyboard doesn’t disappear when done typing into apps or websites. The voice recognition has become markedly worse. Multiple lines of text appear superimposed over one another in various apps, including Facebook I have had an iPhone for 12 years, so presumably, the “system” has listened to, and refined its understanding of, my voice for 12 years and in the past several months, it has gotten much worse. I occasionally dictate in German or Russian, and it has learned those versions of my voice fairly well. But normal English. Dictation is much worse than it was six months or a year ago. Not to mention, the dictation function seems to insert spurious, commas and periods, as seen above.

Hi ckorff,

The first step when facing unexpected behaviors with your device is to restart the unit. Restart your iPhone covers the standard process that should be used when possible.

Auto-punctuation is a feature of dictation in iOS 16. More details on this are outlined at iOS 16 - New Features.

If you believe your device is not operating as designed, you may use Apple Support to connect with AppleCare to investigate further.

Regards.
