Compressor: starting and stopping and restarting an export?

I'm posting this on the FINAL CUT PRO forum -- because I'm sure one of you gang has had this experience before: not enough time to finish something ... that needs to be finished..

I'm on the road. I''m prepping a film for a film festival pre-view – an HEVC version. It's a 90 minute film. It's a slow conversion, been running most of the night, and I'm 3/4's of the way through. I need to quit the hotel and be on the road again.

I'm contemplating 'pausing' the export, putting the computer to sleep, loading the car, driving through the day to the next stop, then waking the computer, and restarting the export. And completing the task.

Is such a thing possible? Will a fully charged MacBook Pro last the day in 'sleep mode'?

Or might there be another way to do this?
