Trying to reset wifi settings on my older model HP Deskjet 3050 J610 Series Printer/Scanner in order to connect to my iOS Catalina 10.15.7 iMAC,after a router change

Please help guide me to get my perfectly working printer/scanner (HP Deskjet 3050 J610 Series) reconnected to my iMAC (Catalina iOS version10.15.7) via a new wifi router (from new wifi provider), wirelessly. I used up all options, including easy ones like "press the wireless button and use WPS push button on router to reconnect". I also went on the HP website, but this printer is not on warranty anymore, and there is no more software updates (that I can tell). The printer is obviously trying to reconnect as the blue wireless icon is constantly flashing.

Please help me! Thanks, Syl (please send answer to my yahoo.com email address. Thx!)

Hi,

There are two parts in this. First of all, you need to connect the printer (wirelessly) to the new Wi-Fi router. Secondly, you will need an appropriate printer driver when attempting to add the printer to your Mac.

Regarding the first part, the printer must connect to the proper band (if the router is a dual-band device 2.4/5 GHz). Since this is a relatively old printer model, I guess that only 2.4 GHz will work. Also, you may have to check that the printer is compatible with the router's Wi-Fi security setting. WPS is not a bad idea, if it works. If necessary, post back with the exact router model (please do not post any serial numbers or access codes).

I set a DHCP address range on my new Synology RT6600ax router for n.n.3.50 - 100. Since my router also provides for a DHCP reservation, I entered my networked laser printer's hardware address, the intended reservation IP (n.n.3.10) and the printer name. The same printer is accessible by Macs, Linux, iOS/iPadOS devices, and Windows that are also on that n.n.3 (wired or wireless) network because the printers IP address never changes.
