It does not sound like you heard me. This is not a technical change on Apple's part. Or on Microsoft's part.
You have effectively (from the perspective of office 365) logged on with a different computer. This is a side effect of the way Microsoft does their authentication.
The procedure I expect you need to follow is to somehow notify Office authentication that THIS computer is the one that takes over from the old one, that was running Monterey. That could consist of some sort of notification of your upgrade, or possibly a de-authorization of the "old" computer and a new authorization of the "new" computer.
