The biggest problem is the useless search capability. Trying to find a specific album/performance is a frustrating exercise in futility. Until that's fixed, Apple Music is pretty much worthless for any "serious" classical music fan.

True! Serious classical sites have a much different approach to Search. See example below from eclassical.com.

I'm guessing (and this is just a guess) that there's no new application coming.

Instead, I suspect that Apple is just concentrating on improving the metadata for the existing Music app to make it work better with classical music.

What evidence do I have? Well, just two things really. First, the absence of any new app. Second, the visible improvements in the organisation of classical music. Compare these two recordings of Vivaldi's Four Seasons. The first album is a list of tracks. Other then the track titles, there's no structure that indicates that there are individual concertos here:

Now look at the second (more recent) album. Each of the concertos is separated and its structure of movements is explicit.

There are some other improvements too. Maybe this will allow Apple to "solve" for classical music without deploying a separate app, or perhaps it's just a reflection of background activity that Apple is doing to make a new app work properly.

In the absence of a clear statement from Apple, we can only wait and see.

I still believe the separate app will come but I'm afraid not in 2022...

The new layout for the Classic music has been around for a while now but is by far not enough. Sometimes it's impossible to find out the composer of a track on iPhone or iPad because there is no "Show Info..." option on the tracks.

I told Apple Support I don't mind the raise in my Family Subscription but I do mind that they fail to keep their promise to have Apple Classical ready in 2022.
