Can't name new font collections in Font Book.

I see others have asked the question, but I don't see a solution. When I create a new font collection, no matter what I name it (or rename it), it defaults back to "Unnamed Collection," and then another will default to "Unnamed Collection-2," and so on. I can't customize the name. Tried restarting the app, didn't work.

Thanks. I tried it in safe mode, same result. Can't create or change names for custom font collections. They just stay as "Unnamed Collection."

Thank you. I added a new admin account, and same result. I rename or create a collection, and it just defaults back to "Unnamed Collection." One odd thing - I did notice that after I rename it, although the name stays "Unnamed Collection," if I try to change the collection name again in the left column, when I hit return, while name is selected and highlighted for change, it shows the unique name I gave it, but if I deselect it, it defaults back to Unnamed. The collection name at the top never changes from Unnamed, though.

I'm able to so give this a try: boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and test to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.

NOTE 1: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following;

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

NOTE 2: if you have a wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries connect it with its charging cable before booting into Safe Mode. This makes it act as a wired keyboard as will insure a successful boot into Safe Mode.
