Texting myself, my phone number is green since ios16 update

I have followed all the other advice, I logged out of my Apple ID, I've turned iMessage on and off, I've checked and unchecked "send and receive from this number."

If I text myself using messages on my Mac or my iPad, messages to myself are still blue.

When I text myself with my phone (which I do to send reminders to myself with Siri while driving etc), my texts to myself go as SMS messages.

This started with the ios16 update last month.

Hello iDVD user,

Try using the following steps to see if they've helped with what you're experiencing:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Choose Messages
  3. Select 'Send & Receive'
  4. Toggle your phone number off here
  5. Restart the iPhone: Restart your iPhone
  6. Head back to the same spot to toggle the phone number back on.

It may take a moment or so to reactivate. Once it does, try sending yourself another iMessage.

Be sure to also ensure the device is using the latest iOS version, which is currently 16.1, to ensure it has the latest improvements applied: Update your iPhone or iPad

Cheers.

No way this is "expected." I've texted myself FOR LITERALLY YEARS and it's a iMessage.

When I text myself from iMessage on my iPad or my MacBook--both fully updated, the messages are blue iMessages.

I don't see hundreds of other iPhone users (my students and friends) telling me they have the same experience.

I want a solution because it's NOT expected.
