Find my tone plays randomly in the middle of the night

Since I upgraded to an iPhone 14 the find my tone has been playing randomly in the middle of the night while the phone it charging. I don’t get a find my phone notification and the tone only places once, it does not continue playing until I turn it off like you would expect if someone trigger the Find My. Last night it happens three times, then it would be a week without happening. It is hard to tell if it is my phone or watching playing the should because nothing lights up. Additionally one of my devices sent a text to a group without me initiating it and made a FaceTime call while on the charger.

Thanks for getting back to us with that information, CGerrard03. It’s appreciated.

Since no one was using any of your devices when a FaceTime call was made, your Apple ID may have been compromised. Please apply the steps in this article: If you think your Apple ID has been compromised - Apple Support Try to make the new password as strong as possible or use the one suggested.

What to do after you change your Apple ID or password - Apple Support -- Once you’ve changed your Apple ID password, this article lists all of the Apple Services you may use. You’ll need to sign out of each one with the old information, and sign back in with the new. This will need to be performed on all of your devices.

Keep your Apple ID secure on iPhone - Apple Support -- This article also lists ways to keep your Apple ID secure.

Once you’ve updated your Apple ID, see if you’re still getting the notifications during the night, or if one of your devices reaches out to one of your contacts again.

All the best.

Hi CGerrard03,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're having an issue with your iPhone 14. We'd like to know more so we can help.

You mentioned that your iPhone 14 has been playing randomly at night. Is this when it's on the charger? Does your display light up with this happens? This will helps you start to isolate this issue.

Then you mentioned another device sent a group text and made a FaceTime call. Can you tell us more about that? Which device was this?

For both devices, which iOS are you currently running on them? You can check by following these steps:

  1. Open Settings
  2. Choose General
  3. Choose About
  4. View Version.

Let us know and we'll plan the best next steps.

Cheers!

Yes, the sounds plays when the phone is on the wireless charger and the display does not light up. I turned off the watch and iPad at night and the noise still happened. I don’t get a “find my” notification.

As for the replay to the group text that happened while I was at work, my phone was on my desk, the watch was home on the charger along with my iPad (the three devices signed into my iCloud account). So I am unsure which device it initiated from.

As for the FaceTime call that happened at night when all 3 devices were on the charger, again I am not sure which device initiated the call.

The iPhone 14 is running 16.0.2

iPad is running 16

Watch version 9
