2022 iMac 24 will not power up

A power surge can cause that, but any number of other hardware failures can cause it also. "Would not restart" ... does that mean the power button produces no response, no sound, nothing? Or does it start and power on but not boot up?

If there is no power at all, try a different outlet, and even a different power cord if you can. If the computer is still totally blank and silent, it is likely a power supply failure. I would expect that a 2022 iMac is still under warranty, so contact Apple either way, or an Apple Authorized Service Provider.

Troubleshoot the Mac's Power:

As for replacing that battery, that may not be necessary. So, try troubleshooting it.

A. Black Mac Screen:

Using External Devices: Try Resetting the SMC and NVRAM, but this time, using an external keyboard. Connect an external monitor and see if you get an output. This applies to Intel-Based Macs only.
