Iphone scrolling and swiping has stopped working

The screen of my iPhone 12 has stopped responding to my touch. Can't do anything. And I have tried the volume up and down buttons and holding the side button for 20 secs. Nothing happens?

I was reading a news article and suddenly it would allow me to scroll down the page
