Organising Voice Recordings - Tag and Sort

Hi, I have an iPad pro 4th Gen running IOS 16 and use voice recorder a lot. I am in a band and record our practises so that members can use the recording to practise later on their own. I currently have over 500 recordings and am really struggling to organise and them.

As best i can tell apple do not allow you to manage your recordings like other files, whether that is a pages doc, picture or anything else. There is no means to sort recordings alphabetically, nor can I tag them like other files, and I can’t physically see them on iCloud…. Why is this? I cannot understand why Apple does not allow this. It seems like an obvious thing to want to do with any file, whether its music, image or docs.

I should add that I’m a recent convert from android and windows devices so still getting my head around how Apple works… am I missing something?

The Voice Memo App doesn’t provide any sorting or tagging options beyond those that you see.

However, as a workaround, consider saving a copy of each Voice Memo to Files, creating directories as required for your needs. Once copies of the Voice Memos have been stored in the Files App, you can use all of the sorting and tagging facilities that are available within the Files App.

To do so, for each Voice Memo, tap the Share icon; an Action Menu will appear. From the menu, choose Save to Files - saving the file to the path/directory of your choice.
