tvOS update to 16.1 has significantly affected wifi strength.

My AppleTV unit auto-updated to tvOS 16.1 a couple of days ago. The speed test of the wifi signal strength that the AppleTV is receiving is now about 5% of what my iPhone receives in the identical location. AppleTV is about 4m from router, line of sight, no brick walls. I've done all the usual stuff with router and the AppleTV unit: restarting, logging in and out, forgetting the SSID, etc. Really seems like a software issue. Rolling back to tvOS 15 is a bit of a pain so I'd like to avoid that if possible. Anyone had a similar experience?
