Wifi not configured

Hello all,

I have an older MBP. It is currently running Catalina. After the last update, I noticed my wifi symbol was greyed out but I continued to have wifi functionality. I have since upgraded my router to an Xfinity Xfi router and now I have no internet capability. It will not allow me to add wifi in my network settings. I go through the proper steps but nothing gets added. I have added other options like a VPN just to see if it would take and it does. I ran a diagnostic test but I don't know what I am looking at other than it showing wifi unavailable. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks a bunch.
