pausing “music” for phone calls on DND

why does alexa/ Bluetooth speakers stop playing music for a call when my phone is on do not disturb, the ringer is off, and notifications are off for phone/FaceTime. The call should not even be coming through just showing up on my missed call list. I don’t have an exception for favorite contacts or for repeat callers. The only way I sleep is with white noise and phone calls stop the white noise so I wake up and it’s frustrating.

Hi there aysia128,

If calls are causing sound to stop playing from a connected Bluetooth speaker despite having Do Not Disturb enabled, does this also occur when you are playing music using the speakers of your iPhone? This will help us isolate the cause of this behavior.

If this happens with your iPhone speakers, then ensure your Do Not Disturb and Focus settings are set to your preference using these articles:

Use Focus on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

If this only happens when your iPhone is connected to a Bluetooth speaker, then we would recommend reaching out the device manufacturer to get the best assistance going forward. They would be the most suited to look into this behavior further.

Cheers!
