Unknown Airtag

How can I disable an unwanted AirTag that is hidden in my car and cannot be reached because it has fallen into the car frame area?

Hello Krayzme,

You can remove an AirTag from your device with these steps:

  1. Open the Find My app on your iPhone.
  2. "Tap Items at the bottom of the screen, then tap the item you want to remove.
  3. Bring the item near your iPhone.
  4. If the item is not near your device, you can still remove it from your account. However, the item must be reset before anyone can register it to their Apple ID.
  5. Tap Remove Item, then follow the onscreen instructions."

Cheers!

The only way to disable the airtag is to physically remove the battery from the airtag.

If you have someone who can lift the car up and remove the airtag, you can use NFC to open a link that shows it's serial number and step by step instructions on disabling it

Thank you Jeff, however, it doesn’t show up as an item on my phone and it’s not linked to my account for me to remove. The AirTag doesn’t belong to me and was discovered in my car (frame area) and I can’t access it. I get notifications that I’m being tracked and I can hear it beep when I try to locate it. There should be a way for someone to deactivate or cancel being tracked by an unknown device that can’t be accessed.
