My macbook screen is damaged and not displaying anything. I then connected on the second screen with HDMI, changed the screen to "not mirrored". The primary screen now is the damaged (blank) screen and I am unable to get to the primary screen.

How do I reset the display setting with the primary screen blank.

you generally can't convert Mac HDMI to anything else except Single-link DVI.

You will need an adapter that goes from USB-C to display input in at most one adapter.

Or respond with what model-year iMac and readers can find you something that works.

Apple has one that provides a charge port and a USB-A port as well, but it's a little pricey:

USB-C VGA Multiport Adapter - $69.00

They also sell this Belkin adapter,

Belkin USB-C to VGA Adapter - $29.95

Thanks for the answer. Worked and resolved the issue. Now just having one more challenge, while i read up can I ask so long.

I have bought a second screen, Acer that only have a VGA input while I use a macbook. I have purchased a HDMI-VGA converter. The problem is if I use the PC (Windows) the screen work with the same converter, but it doesn't work when I connect the macbook using the same connection. I tried resetting the screen resolution to 1024 x 768,, still no luck.
