Does the quality selector works when playing on a HomePod?

I am using iPad to stream Apple Music to the HomePod. Does the quality settings in the app influence the quality of the music play via HomePod? Or will the HomePod always play the best quality music by default?

HomePod, 16

I am not sure how this could be useful, as I don't see there anything that is even close to the answer to my question. Are you a some kind of bot trying to analyze the text? That is a real question, no offence.
