Strange system error entering?

Today I switched of my MacBook Air and turning it on right after it first showed me to enter the password once (it was correct) and then it asked me the participants password another time - the same code - but the password apparently was wrong (no signs of error). After reseting a few times all passwords I do not know what to do anymore and I have no idea what could cause the lack. I canceled some downloads yesterday, and I am afraid I deleted a system update or similar.


Can someone help?

Make sure the Caps Lock key is not enabled (aka lit).


Try using an external keyboard in case your other keyboard is bad. Maybe3 even try resetting the password again using another keyboard.


Do you have Filevault enabled?


What is the exact model of the laptop and version of macOS being used? You can get the exact model by entering the system serial number here:
