Silverfast SF-8.8.0r25(Plustek) and ventura not compatible?
What is going on here, who is to blame bad programming in silverfish or apple breaking its own rules?
Is there a fix in sight?

What scanner doe you have? Give the demo version of VueScan a try - Epsons require working driver - get ICA driver from Epson - search: VueScan Epson model number scanner drivers.
If you get the VueScan Pro it's a one time purchase and lifetime updates, even if you change scanners. I use it with Canon and Epson scanners.
Apple can't tailor its systems to every scanner on the market. That's the responsibility of the scanner manufacturers. So if you want to rant and blame someone do so at you scanner manufacturer's website.

If one ist happy to buy a new release of software every time Apple puts out an upgrade -which happens to be a remodelled OS- out, than yes Silverfast will work ok but it is an absolute no go with the previous release because Apple just have changed its mind how people should work. This is a no go for many people as not everyone throws money around to follow the whims of apple. Will Apple follow one day what happened to IBM?
What does Apple have to do with Silverfast's releases? Apple has no control over what 3rd party developers do. There are plenty of apps that work just fine in everything from High Sierra to Ventura. If some company failed to do that, it wasn't Apple's fault.

I am already using Vuescan and on a few little things Silverfast has the edge, thanks for your help.
In the meantime I have rolled back to Monterey with a lot of pain because the Apple support staff forced me to erase my drive and reinstall .... 7 to 9 hours later running again Monterey. There are other options but problems arose likely due to badly documented processes. Who can argue with Apple and some of their staff ...
Thank you,

Please post if you find an answer. I am in the same situation with an Epson Perfection V800
