Basic question: Do you have an Apple Watch? If you are wearing a watch text notification sounds go to the watch rather than the phone.

Hello,
These are the standard steps for no sound:
1) Is the side silent mute button on? Does any red show? Slide it back and fourth.
2) How about the volume buttons? Is the volume very low? Move the buttons.
3) Is Do Not Disturb on? Go to Settings > Focus > Do Not Disturb. Is it turned on? Check the times.
4) Go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics. Check the Ringer and Alerts slider. Try changing the sound pattern for the type of alert.
5) Go to Settings > Notifications. Is the app listed?
6) Do other sounds work? What about phone calls? Music?
7) Volume summary: Adjust the volume on iPhone
8) Do you have an Apple watch? Many of the notifications will go to the watch instead of the phone.
Note: you can send text messages to yourself for testing purposes.
Good luck.
Yes, I done all of the above. I had ATT take remote of my phone so that they can check all settings. They recommended to talk to Apple, Apple support took control of phone to do all of the above, still no notification sound for text and emails.
now I have to take it in to an Apple Store so they can see if the can fix it.

Text notifications will come on the watch instead of your iPhone if you are wearing the watch, the watch is unlocked, and wrist detection is enabled. The only way to get alerts on the phone is to turn off wrist detection or lock the watch.
I do have a watch, but sound does not come from there neither. Never had this problem with my iPhone 12 mini.
it all started when I bought the 14 pro max and the new IOS update was down loaded.
Any way to make them work on my phone rather than my watch?
I turned off my watch and they started working on my phone again.
