Hello and welcome to Apple Support Communities, kj174,

We understand you're seeing that your iPad is unavailable and having trouble resetting it with iTunes. We'd be happy to provide information to help you out.

This message indicates that you’ve entered the passcode of your iPad incorrectly too often. If your iPd is on iPadOS 15.2 or later, you can erase and set up your iPad directly from your iPad: How to remove your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch passcode without a computer - Apple Support

Otherwise, you’ll need to use your computer to erase it: If you forgot your iPad passcode - Apple Support

Step 1: Make sure that you have a computer (Mac or PC)

Step 2: Turn off your iPad

Step 3: Put your iPad in recovery mode

Step 4: Restore your iPad

Since your iPad is showing “unavailable”, iTunes isn’t able to recognize it until it’s placed in recovery mode as shown in the article above.

Feel free to get back to us with any questions or problems you may have.

Regards.
