I want to reset my apple ID password, but don't have access/or forgot my previous phone number

What can I do? (before anyone asks, no I do not have any other apple device that is signed into my iCloud.) The iCloud I wish to access was an old one used on my old iPad mini 2. I'm well aware that it can't be used for much these days, but I don't care. I only want to use it for music and general media. I wiped the iPad to remove all the junk I put on the device as a kid, but forgot that activation lock is a thing. When I went to sign into the iCloud, I forgot the password, and when I went to reset the password, I needed a phone number. Which is fine, that's normal, only issue is I don't have access to that number anymore and I don't remember it. Apple doesn't exactly give you any other options, so does that mean if I don't have this number I'm screwed? Someone help me please. I would like to use this iPad as an iPad instead of an overpriced paper weight. Thanks in advance

If you forgot the Apple ID (iCloud) password, enter the Apple (iCloud) ID, and click Forgot Password. See if you can get a Rescue or Notification email option if necessary. Link to contact Apple Support at the end of the 2nd article.

If you have 2 Factor Authentication enabled, if you can't recover the password using the steps above, you will need to use Account Recovery. The Recovery Process is an automated process and the length of time it takes can vary a lot. Apple ID Support can only answer your questions. They can't intervene in or speed up the process. The article below has some suggestions to shorten the time the process takes.
